I bought this camera from Costco, even though no one had reviewed it yet, because of the low price and many features.

Once I received it and returned to the Costco site to see if the tripod mount was available there, I found 4 bad reviews and began to wonder if I had made a mistake. One of the reviews mentioned poor sound quality on replay, but that was easily sorted by starting the replay over again. So I thought I’d keep it, as otherwise it seemed to work really well. Shot my first video tutorial with it and was totally satisfied.

Until…two weeks later and I’m ready to shoot my next tutorial. I set up everything, started the camera recording and put it in place and started doing my tutorial. I got all the way to the end, took the camera down and it was OFF. So I turn it back on and played back what I had filmed. Essentially, half way through, the camera turned itself off.

I figured it was a glitch, so I got myself set back up to start about where it had turned off and went through my tutorial yet again. And when I took the camera down, it was again OFF. I checked the playback and the camera had turned itself off right after I put it in place.

So this camera made a trip back to Costco. I’m very sad, because I thought for the price, this camera had so many features that are not found on similarly priced HD cameras. I loved being able to adjust for different light conditions and the 8x digital zoom compared to 2x on similar cameras. But I don’t need to mess around trying to get it to stay on when it should stay on.
